Andy Phillips in his Reds uniformYesterday was photo day for the Reds. The players dress up in their uniforms and pose for photographers from the media and from the baseball card companies. (Trent says everyone hates photo day. Perhaps because they seem to spend most of their time waiting in line for their turn with the photographer.)
Judging from the above pic of Andy, the photos are better this year than last. Last year, they used weird underlighting that made everyone look like they were
possessed. I like this year's darker background better, too.
Meanwhile, Bubba is reportedly on his way to Arizona today. He doesn't have to show up until March 6, but I guess he's going early. A lot of players do.
And once again, a patented A-Rod "insert foot in mouth and stomp out brains" moment. Wednesday, he said he was tested for 'roids 9 or 10 times last year. Rather than reassuring people, it immediately raised questions. Players don't get tested that often unless there's a problem. Such as testing positive. So the next day, he said
it wasn't that often; he was just exaggerating.
And what the heck?
ESPN publishing an article about peak oil and global warming? What's this world coming to? (They're mostly joking, but during the '70s oil crisis, they really did shorten NASCAR races in order to save fuel.)
Boy, did we get socked with snow yesterday. It was supposed to be only 2-3", with a changeover to ice/rain by afternoon. Only the changeover never happened. It all came down as snow. So we got about a foot. Yikes. I went out this morning, and it was really treacherous. There's a layer of ice under all that snow. It's slick as glass, especially in areas that have been shoveled. It looks nice and clear and dry...then you step on it, and fall flat on your face.
