This could be bad news for Clemens if it's true:
Lawyer for Rocket's ex-trainer says ex-teammate can confirm HGH use
WASHINGTON - So far, Roger Clemens and his former personal trainer Brian McNamee have engaged in a he-said, he-said, with no third party providing evidence to back either account.
A lawyer for McNamee believes that could change next week, when New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte — Clemens’ former teammate and workout partner — speaks to a House committee.
The lawyer, Earl Ward, said Tuesday night he thinks Pettitte will tell Congress he discussed human growth hormone with Clemens between the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
I guess Andy's going to have to find himself another workout partner.
Everyone thinks the Twins got screwed in the Santana trade.
Pete Abe reports that the Twinkies were "robbed without a gun."
Baseball America says the Twins should be hoping the deal collapses, so they have a chance to start over.
The Twins are supposed to be pretty good horsetraders, so it's odd to see them on the short end of such a one-sided deal. Perhaps they value the prospects they got more than anyone else does. (That would be very Minnesota.) More likely, the restrictions Santana put on them - according to rumor, only to NY or Boston, and only before spring training starts - hamstrung them a bit. They should have traded him in December, before the Yankees changed their minds. I think once the Yanks pulled out, the market collapsed. The Red Sox were only trying to keep him from the Yanks, so once the Yanks dropped out, that left only the Mets.
Meanwhile, the Reds have issued their
media guide. The section with Andy Phillips is
