It's official: Nick Green has been signed:
The Yankees signed infielder Nick Green to a minor-league contract, with a non-roster invitation to spring training. If he makes the team, Green will make $550,000 with $100,000 attainable in incentives. He has an opt-out on March 25.
Not a bad deal. I guess someone has to fill Miguel Cairo's shoes. (March 25 is a pretty early opt-out date. That's before spring training even ends.)
And Chad Jennings'
SWB Yankees Blog reports that the Yankees are trying to re-sign Sardinha.
He also reports that the Yankees are having trouble signing minor league free agents. Top free agents don't want to come to Scranton. Because the Yankees may call up their minor leaguers, but they don't let them play.
Maybe that will change now that Girardi's the manager...
