September already. Where did the summer go?

Rosters expand today. Doug Mientkiewicz was activated off the DL, and Jose Veras and Alberto Gonzalez were called up. Veras and Gonzalez were already on the 40-man roster, but Minky, on the 60-day DL, was not. Kevin Thompson was DFA'd to make room for him.

The Reds have recalled Phil Dumatrait and Marcus McBeth.

There will probably be more callups coming, once the minor league season ends.

OK... so these geniuses activate Minky, even though Andy is clearly proven better in every aspect, and even though Giambi and Betemit (and maybe even Damon and Posada) are probably ahead of him of the depth chart, for a 1 month stint in which he may never play in a non-blowout scenario... doesn't seem worth it to possibly lose KT.

P.S. Cairo's in the lineup for St. Louis.

I think Minky still has a place on the team, with the rosters expanded. He's still got a very good glove, better than any of their other first basemen. He'll be a LIDR, I would guess.

And I think they were going to lose KT anyway, if not this year than next, when he'll be out of options.

The Yankees have a lot of outfielders. And they seem down on KT, perhaps because he's reportedly had attitude issues. It would probably be best for him if he landed with another team, who might give him a real chance.

I saw Miggy start at 2B last night for the Cardinals. Boy, it was weird to see him in that uniform.
