Fare thee well, Kevin Thompson

The Oakland A's claimed Kevin Thompson off waivers. (This is the team that was so desperate for outfielders that they traded for Chris Denorfia when he'd just had Tommy John surgery and wouldn't be able to play until next year at the earliest.) They say they're going to give Thompson a chance:

"We'll put him in the mix in the outfield," A's manager Bob Geren said. "We'll put him in for defense and have him start some games. He can play all three outfield spots. We'll give him a chance and see what he can do."

Good luck to you, KT. I have a feeling you'll get more of an opportunity in Oakland than you'd ever have gotten in the Bronx.

The Reds also made a move today, trading pitcher Victor Santos to the Baltimore Orioles for "cash considerations."

I like the Yankees, but I hope this comes back to bite them.

Wow, and I thought Bubba never got a fair chance!

We all love Bubba, but at least he got a few days in the sun. It's absurd that KT was buried so deep.

I'm surprised the Yanks haven't lost Reese as well.

They'll probably lose Reese soon. Since they DFA'd him, he's eligible for minor league free agency. He'll probably go elsewhere, as Bubba did, since clearly the Yanks have no room for him.
