Surgery Successful

Jim Kelch, the Bats radio announcer, reported tonight that Bubba's shoulder surgery went very well. He's expected to return to Sarasota in the next day or two to continue rehabbing there. Bats trainer Chris Lapole says Bubba will be "100% ready to go" by spring training next year.

Hey, I noticed over at Red Reporter that you said Dumatrait was pulled from the his last start "at the request of the Reds." Where do you hear the Reds requested he be pulled?

The Bats radio announcers said so last night. Dumatrait was pitching well and at only 66 pitches, so everyone was wondering why he was pulled after only five innings. Was he injured, etc.

They announced later in the game that he was pulled "at the request of the Reds."

And now Trent says he thinks Lohse is being traded. So I would guess Dumatrait will take Lohse's start on Tuesday.

Right... but Spring Training where?

Good question. Bubba signed only a one-year deal with the Reds, so he could go anywhere next season.

It doesn't look like the Reds really need another lefty outfielder, so Bubba might be moving on. I would guess he'll try to stay in the NL, but beyond that, who knows? It's way too early to speculate.

Hey bubbafan, what do you think will happen if the Yankees get both Minky and Giambi back? Surely, Andy's not going to get DFA'd holding a .311 average.

Probably Shelley Duncan and Chris Basak will be sent back to Scranton. The one who will be hurt will probably be Melky. He'll become the 4th OFer again, because Giambi will be DHing, and Damon will have to play CF.

A trade is also a possibility. Andy probably has some trade value, and the Yanks may want to trade him while his value is high.

I don't know if it matters at this point. The Yanks lost again tonight. I'm not sure they have what it takes to make a run for it this year.

Andy better be in there at 1B over those turkeys if they do come back.

Go back exactly 1 year, and place a bet on who you think would be leading off, playing left field, and playing almost every day for a contender: (1) Bubba, or (2) Willie Harris.

(I never thought Willie would be back at all after looking so awful for the Red Sox last year.)

Being an ex-Yankee fan (since Aug 4, 2006), Andy should realize that no matter what he does for the team, he will either be traded or sent back to the minors. He has been doing a great job at 1B but it really doesn't matter. The Yankees may want to trade him while he is still hot. Knowing their track record, they will trade for someone like Johnny D and Bobby A who will not produce. Let's not forget Randy Johnson. Scott Procter who came over to the Yankees with Bubba will definitely be traded. What they need is more players like Bubba who give 110% and play hard. Instead they have a bunch of egos on the field and they wonder why they are losing. I was in Baltimore this weekend for the Saturday game. I sat among Yankee fans (including my family/friends) and loved watching the Yankees lose again. Of course, it would have been exciting if A-Rod had hit his 500th.
