Bucky Dent Fired

Or maybe he quit. In any case, he's out.

Dent was the Reds' bench coach. Yankee and Red Sox fans of course remember him for the home run that sent the Red Sox to defeat in 1978, and earned him a new middle name.

Dent was the manager of the Columbus Clippers in 2004 and 2005 - the years Bubba Crosby spent the most time with the Clippers. I suspect Dent was a big reason the Reds went after Bubba last fall.

Best of luck to you, Bucky. I'm sure you'll have a job in baseball somewhere, as long as you want one.

They may as well make Conine player-manager now.

Too bad Bubba isn't healthy and in the Marlins' organization. They've tried out practically every minor league outfielder they have this year. Linden has been DFA'd twice this year (once by the Fish), and they have purchased his contract again.

I'm kind of surprised the Marlins didn't grab Bubba when he was put on waivers.

Girardi tried to trade for him during spring training last season, but the Yanks refused. And by the time he was DFA'd in August, Girardi didn't really have any say in the roster, at least if you believe the rumors.

The Marlins' CF is humongous. They could really use a player with Bubba's range.
