Cardboard Crosby: Diamond Kings 2005




Here's one of Bubba's New York Yankees baseball cards. It's a Donruss "Diamond Kings" card. It's different, because the image is a painting, not a photo.

The back has a brief description of Bubba's career, up to 2004.



It also has some information on the artist who did the painting. He is Dallas illustrator David Kramer; his style is described as "romantic realism," which seems pretty accurate.

He did get a reasonable likeness, but it's a bit bland and idealized. Not bad, though, considering he was likely working from a photo.

LOL! His ears are rather...perky. :-) But hey, lots of great players have had prominent ears. Look at Jorge Posada. Or Yogi Berra...
