Reds Blooper Reel

There's a video of outtakes at Reds.com. It features the players trying to record clips to show on the Jumbotron, advertising the various promotional giveaways.

Hmmm. Might have to re-think that Janish as a broadcaster thing. ;-)

Eek. I'm not sure.

If it's really you, Bubba, welcome, thanks for posting, yes, please, post some photos.

If it's one of my friends playing a prank...you better hope the world is ending tomorrow, 'cause otherwise I'm gonna kill you! ;-)

Bubba, I wish you were still playing. Are you going to come back for old-timers day sometime at least?

I will never step foot back in Yankee stadium after what they did to me..I was all suited up ready to play than they let me go. Im enjoying the farm life and church now.

I should probably post this as a new post rather than a comment, but since you're posting here, I'll post here, too, in hopes you see it. (You might want to post your comments to newer threads. Old posts on blogs don't get a lot of traffic, and the comments don't go through immediately on posts more than two weeks old, as a spam control measure.)

To be honest, I'm not sure if you're really Bubba Crosby or not. Every celebrity has online impostors, and Bubba was no exception. The reasons range from humor to malice to admiration to mental health issues. But I'm going to address you as if you are really Bubba Crosby, and hope I'm not making a total fool of myself.

I'm sorry I haven't posted more about you lately. Part of it is that it's kind of the nature of blogs. Even pro sports bloggers often range off-topic, to movies, music, what they had for lunch, etc.

I have the additional problem of not really having much news to post about. I'm in upstate NY, not Houston, so I'm dependent on the news media for information about you, and the occasional tips from Rice alumni and other Houstonites.

That's one reason I set up the web site - so people who just wanted news about you could go there, and not have to weed through my blithering.

As for this blog...I try to stick to sports, but sometimes range off-topic even on that. I ended up interested in Paul Janish because of you: I started following the Reds when you signed with them, and many of my readers back then were Rice fans who were interested in Janish as well as you.

Those who want to read only my blog posts about you can bookmark the Bubba Crosby tag.

I didn't use it when I first started this blog, because when you were playing, almost every post was about you. But new posts should appear under the Bubba Crosby tag.

I also want to say...you are still my favorite player. I miss seeing you cover three zip codes in center field. That walkoff homer against the Orioles is one of my fondest baseball memories. I'm kicking myself for not going to spring training in 2007 to see you play. I was crushed when you retired, but I'm glad to hear you are happy and successful in your new career. And if you ever make any personal appearances, let me know. I'll publicize them here and on the web site, and try to get there myself if I can. (How about the Rice alumni game? :-)
