The Reds lost to the Pirates today. Andy Phillips was subbed in at 2B and went 1 for 3 with a double.
John Fay reports that the Reds want an upgrade at catcher and are hoping to trade Ryan Freel to get it. Freel is a right-handed utility infielder/outfielder, so if he's traded, that would open up a slot for Andy.
MLB Trade Rumors has an interesting article on why GMs make the decisions they make. Looking at the list, I have to think Bubba has a lot to offer a major league baseball team...when he's healthy, anyway.
I am mostly packed up to head to Florida tomorrow. The weather is not looking good. There's supposed to be an ice storm tonight and tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it will be mostly rain by the time I leave.
Also, I-95 has been closed near Philadelphia for emergency repairs. Wonderful. I guess I'll go around it, through Scranton-Wilkes Barre. It will add a few miles to my trip, but I'll avoid the congestion around NYC and Philadelphia.
