Andy Phillips vanquishes the chowderheads

Andy Phillips hits a triple off Javier Lopez

The Reds played the Red Sox today. Andy Phillips was the hero of the day. Well, in my opinion, anyway.

Andy came in as a pinch-hitter in the top of the 6th. The score was 2-1 Boston. Bases loaded, two outs. He hit a three-RBI triple, a fly ball to center field. The Reds would never trail again, though the Sox got close. The game ended when the other Andy, Andy Green, nailed the runner at the plate in the bottom of the 9th. Final score: Reds 7, Red Sox 6.

Andy cruising into third

Andy Phillips stayed in the game and played left field. His line for the day: 1 for 2, 3 RBI, 1 run scored.

Paul Janish entered the game in the 6th as a pinch-runner. He was 1 for 1 with 1 RBI and a run scored. The hit was a seeing-eye single. He stayed in the game and played SS.

Tomorrow is March 6 - the day when Seattle's minor leaguers officially report for spring training. Dunno if they'll do anything except check in on the first day.

Andy looks ripped! If he doesn't make the team, there should be an investigation.
