The New York Clippees

September 9, 2006: N.Y. Yankees 3, Baltimore 2

Last time, Orioles rookie pitcher Adam Loewen beat the Yanks 3-2. This time, the score was reversed, and the Yanks prevailed.

There was a "house money" lineup today; perhaps that's the key to defeating these unknown rookie pitchers (URPs) who always seem to do a number against the Yanks. Bernie Williams started in CF. Nick Green was in for A-Rod (who has a stomach virus again). Kevin Thompson was in RF to rest Abreu, who's been slumping and looked awful at the plate yesterday.

Weird that Torre didn't put Thompson in CF and Bernie in RF. Did he decide KT's arm in RF was worth more than his legs in CF? Or does he just not trust KT in CF?

KT isn't the centerfielder that Bubba Crosby is, but he's still a better option than Bernie, IMO.
